HC Valpellice, first Piedmont hockey club, was born in Torre Pellice in 1934 thanks to two young local students, Giorgio and Giuseppe Cotta Morandini.
The first rink is a little iced lake called “Blancio” and it’s from there that begin a story of love and passion for this discipline that last until now.
Torre Pellice, a 5.000 citizens town famous as the historical and cultural core of the Waldesian Church, lies at only 50 km from Torino and at 700 meters height above sea level, at the foot of the Alps.
Since the beginning between Torre Pellice and the chief town interlace a strong relationship of hard rivalry and some temporary joining.
Today HC Valpellice plays in the National Hockey League Serie A2 after a good period in the Elite League.
The old arena, called “Filatoio”, has been site for more than 30 years of epic “battles” and it has been rebuild two times in consequence of the river Pellice floods; now it has been replaced with the new Olympic Stadium, built on the occasion of the Olympic Winter Games of Torino 2006; it gets a 2500 people capacity.
Strong points of the team are grit and resolution which often brings to great victories, especially during the home games with a hot supporters help.
The club colours are red & white with little stripes of green & black which remind to an old jersey when the team was called “Peter Pan” and this was the first attempt of a sponsorship agreement.
In addiction of Senior Team, HC Valpellice takes part in every junior league with under8,under10,under12,under14,under16 and under19 rosters; these young divisions are always a good source for the Senior Team.
